Flat-Trac  Dynamometer Roadway

The MTS Flat-Trac Dynamometer is an accurate and effective tool for assessing vehicle rolling loss and efficiency. This capability is critical for EV development, where rolling resistance plays a significant role in battery and powertrain sizing and determining energy efficiency.

Engineered to capture direct longitudinal force measurements from full vehicle and individual spinning tires, the dynamometer provides an efficient means for meeting WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedures). Often, coast down data is captured on the road and then used to take rolling loss measurements on a chassis dyno system. This is time and resource intensive, subject to track and weather conditions, and ultimately flawed due to its reliance on chassis dynos which employ round drums to replicate flat surfaces. The entire procedure - capturing data and measuring rolling loss - can be performed on a laboratory-based dynamometer in a fraction of the time and with more accurate and repeatable results.

The Flat-Trac Dynamometer can also be used for validating and fine-tuning Human-ADAS interaction.
